Tidak dapat dinafikan kekuatan perasaan gembira dari ekspresi muka gembira ini. Kita dilahirkan dengan kebolehan untuk tersenyum, tetapi semakin meningkat usia, kita semakin jarang tersenyum. Penyelidikan menunjukkan bahawa kanak-kanak tersenyum purata 400 kali sehari, berbanding dengan purata orang dewasa yang gembira yang tersenyum 40-50 kali sehari dan orang dewasa biasa yang tersenyum hanya 20 kali sehari. 

Mengapa senyuman itu penting? 


Senyuman bukan sahaja meningkatkan mood tetapi membantu badan kita mengeluarkan kortisol dan endorfin yang memberikan banyak manfaat kesihatan.

Kebaikan yang boleh didapati ketika melemparkan senyuman adalah termasuk:

- Meningkatkan daya tahan 
- Mengurangkan kesakitan 
- Mengurangkan tekanan 
- Sistem imun diperkuatkan 
- Tambahan pula, kajian menunjukkan bahawa orang yang tersenyum kelihatan lebih disukai, berbudi bahasa dan cekap. 
- Orang yang tersenyum cenderung untuk menjadi lebih produktif di tempat kerja dan membuat lebih banyak wang.
